CCAG cleans up Ga East Hospital

The Contract Cleaners Association of Ghana (CCAG) has embarked on a charity clean up exercise at the Ga East Municipal Hospital to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the facility.

The exercise was part of the association’s efforts to ensure that the hospital staff, visitor and other patience to visits the place were safe from contracting the disease in the facility which had been designated as one of the isolation centres in the country.

As part of the exercise, the group of the association members mobbed the floors of the various offices and departments in the hospital with electric scrubbers and others advanced cleaning equipments.

The exercise

The Chairman-Elect for CCAG, Mr. Yusif Salford explained that the exercise was the association’s little way it could also contribute to the fight against the Coronavirus.

“We are part of the Private Sector Fund undertaking the construction of the isolation centers and as partners, we want volunteer and take charge of all the cleaning in this hospital,” he said.

“We realised since the place had been designated as an isolation centre there would be a need to clean this place to ensure that the staff, visitors as well as other patients who come to place were safe from contracting the disease,” he added.

Mr Salford also stated that the cleaning was going to be done consistently to ensure that regardless of the number COVID-19 patients who would be brought the isolation centre, there wouldn’t be any spread of the virus in the hospital.

Commendation

On his part, Head of Administration at the Ga East Hospital, Rev. Samuel Obeng Mensah extended his appreciation to Contract Cleaners Association while noting that the clean-up exercise had come at the right time.

“I will like to, first of all, say a very big thank you to the Contract Cleaners Association of Ghana. In fact, they have come at the right time and so the hospital is very thankful,” he said.

He added, “As you all know the Covid-19 is a disease that thrives on dirt and that is why we are advised to all wash and sanitize our hands. So to come here and weed all every part of the hospital, spray and clean, they have done very well.”

Rev. Samuel Obeng further appeals to other companies to come to the aid of the hospital with any form of support to help in the fight against the Coronavirus crisis.
