Osino (E/R), May 21, GNA – World Vision Ghana (WVG), in collaboration with KIA Motors, has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Saamang KIA Green Light Health Centre in the Fanteakwa South District.
The PPE’s worth GH¢134,000.00, included face masks, Antibacterial liquid wash, Face shields, gloves, hand sanitizers, among others.
Mr Joshua Baidoo, the Southern Operations Manager of WVG, who presented the items said it was important for them to support the government in the provision of PPE’s, especially with the increase in the number of corona virus cases.
“WVG and KIA Motors are concerned about the impact that COVID-19 health crisis will have on the poorest and the most vulnerable, risk it poses to already-stretched basic social services and pre-existing high level of food insecurity and malnutrition among others”.
Dr Alberta Nyarko, the Eastern Regional Health Director, in a speech on read on her behalf, thanked the donors and said the gesture had come at an opportune time to boost its supply to help contain COVID-19 in the region.
“We are delighted and happy to receive these items from World Vision and KIA Motors to complement government’s stockpile which will boost the confidence of health workers to combat the virus”.
Mr Kwesi Ntori Adjabeng, the District Chief Executive Officer of Fanteakwa South, was grateful to WVG and KIA Motors for their kind gesture.
He encouraged health personnel to give their best in fighting the pandemic and said that the district would continue to pursue the safety protocols outlined by health authorities to help curb the spread of the virus.
The Eastern Region as at Thursday, May 21 had reported 100 positive cases of Coronavirus with 86 recoveries while the Fantekwa South District is yet to record any positive case.
