Following the Supreme Court ruling that it cannot compel the Electoral Commission Chair, Jean Mensa, to mount the witness box in the ongoing 2020 election petition, some Ghanaians have taken to social media to express their views.

While some users have described the development as interesting, others believe it is a recipe for chaos in subsequent elections.

This follows Thursday’s ruling by the Apex Court that (per Law) it (Supreme Court) cannot compel the EC testify in the ongoing petition.

The Court in a unanimous decision upheld the application by the 1st and 2nd Respondents not to call any witnesses in the ongoing election petition hearing.

However, some social media users hold the view that the EC boss must mount the witness box to redeem her image despite the ruling.

Others also believe the election petition has exposed the “biasness of the apex court.”

Meanwhile, Counsel for the petitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata, has disclosed that he will formally subpoena the Electoral Commission (EC) Chair, Jean Mensa in order to cross examine her.
