Test results for two persons in the Northern Region have proven positive for Covid-19 through community infection.
Northern Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. John Eleeza who confirmed this to Alfred Ocansey on TV3’s News 360 on Tuesday evening said the test results were made available to them on the night of Monday, April 20.Their samples were taken on April 17, 2020 and sent to the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) and it was confirmed that the one male and female had tested positive.
He said contact tracing has started in earnest within the Tamale Metropolis.
The two confirmed cases in the Northern region add up to the 11 already recorded cases in the region.
As of April 20, the Ghana Health Service has confirmed 1,042 cases nationwide with 99 recoveries. Nine persons with underlining health condition have died in Ghana.
