Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland, Papa Owusu Ankomah has recovered after contracting Covid-19 early last month.

In a statement from the Commissioner, he thanked all and sundry for their prayers and well wishes towards him, his family and the commission during his difficult times.

“Words cannot express the depth of our gratitude and I am fortunate to know that I have the concern of each and every one of you,” he said.

Papa Ankomah in his statement also expressed gratitude to all those who supported him in diverse ways while he was indisposed including the President, Akufo-Addo and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey who helped manage affairs at the High Commission while he was away.

He extended gratitude to health workers who attended to him and ensured his safe recovery.

“I am inspired by their abilities, diligence, selflessness, sensibility and devotion to the calling,” he said of them.

Papa owusu Ankomah tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, April 10, 2020 and was shortly sent to the Intensive Care Unit of the Royal Free Hospital in London.

The High Commission in a statement said that the Commissioner was responding well to treatment and called for prayers for his full recovery.

The Commissioner in his recovery statement acknowledged the devastating effect the pandemic has had on world economies and the lives of persons across the globe.

However, “I remain optimistic and I strongly believe that the U.K and Ghana, and the rest of the world will overcome this virus.”

He entreated Ghanaians in the UK to adhere to all safety precautions laid down by UK authorities to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus.
